On the day before a sacrifice, people participate in rituals and activities to form a pure space for the sacrifice:
1 Vigil and Fasting: The devotees are supposed to keep away until night and fast until midnight until the honorable time of Krishna’s taking incarnation (birth).
2 Bathing and Dressing the Idol: A sculpture or image of Krishna is made to bathe and be cleaned, and that is why he is washed with water or milk as a way of purification. The giving of new clothes marks the adoration of the deity with the idea of being respectful.
